Davis McLane Connelly is an emerging Brooklyn artist whose lifelike figurative drawings combine a playful surface narrative with a visual subtext encoded with esoteric puzzles. While alluding to a course of conflicted psychological maturation, the compositions include iconographic stuffed toys, anthropomorphic animals, and figures in various states of physical development. The content poses variable technical challenges for the artist, while serving to engage nostalgic or curious viewers in a dialogue concerning the regret of lost youth, and the metaphorical process known as individuation.

Davis holds a Bachelor’s in Psychology (2004) from State University of New York at Cortland, with residencies in Drawing and Painting in Corciano, Italy (2006), and the Chautauqua Institution (2007). He is currently designing educational enrichment classes and after school programs to benefit New York City youth in public schools. Davis is also consulting as an administrator and educator for several non- profit organizations, which provide creative opportunities for children, young professionals, and international artists.
